Claus Grøn Sørensen, He has participated (as project coordinator, WP leader, and partner coordinator) in multiple international projects. Authoring, senior authoring and co-authoring of 350+ national and international publications. Recent research activities have moved towards integrating information technologies with the advancement of operation management and optimisations (adding value to the acquisition of operations data). This include new production principles concerning the application of mathematical/physical models, decision support systems for operations and task management, design and implementation of information technology and communication and other innovative technologies. Additional, new products and production methods are evaluated in terms of sustainability, feasibility, etc. Other key areas include fleet management (for conventional and autonomous field machinery), field robots (high level control aspects: mission planning, path planning, task allocation), supply chain management for bio-energy bio-recourses, field logistics (scheduling, area coverage planning, routing).
A key focus has been the international research and networking relations sustaining international cooperation and knowledge exchange. He is currently the President of CIOSTA (Commission Internationale del’Organisation Scientifique du Travail Agriculture), past president of EurAgEng (the European Society of Agricultural Engineers (EugAgEng), and past-chairman for CIGR (International Commission of Agricultural Engineering) Section V on System Management.
Selected awards include Recognition Award for service as President of EurAgEng (European Society of Agricultural Engineers), CIGR Honorary Vice-President. International Commission of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, Merit Award for service as President of CIGR Section V and promoting of cooperation with international organisations, and Outstanding Paper Award, Biosystems Engineering.
